Annual Fiesta will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs

LAUGHLIN - It's that time of year again: To find out who makes the best margarita on the river and make one lucky person $10,000 richer at the Annual Fiesta and 10K Give Away set for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Aquarius Casino Resort, benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River.

Local restaurants, bars and casinos are frantically concocting the newest and best flavors of margaritas in an effort to call their margaritas the best on the river.

Trophies will be awarded in four categories: Best Blended Margarita, Best Rocks Margarita, Best Booth Theme, and Peoples Choice Award. Each team will be judged by a panel of “expert tasters” who will crown the winners in each of the categories. The Peoples Choice Award also gives those in attendance the opportunity to pick their favorite.

At the conclusion of the event, the Club will make one lucky person $10,000 richer as part of the 10K Give Away.

According to Brian Velarde, Executive Director/CPO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River, this event has become one of the most popular on the Colorado River and raises much needed operating dollars for the three Colorado River Clubs.

“As always we are very excited about this event, this is our second year at the Aquarius Casino Resort and based on last year's event we are expecting a great turnout“ Velarde said. “We are very grateful to the Aquarius for hosting this event and to our new major media sponsor, News West Publishing,” he said.

“With the size of the Aquarius Pavilion we are able to market this event to get more people in attendance and News West will make that happen for us this year.”

Fiesta tickets are $40 each and 10K tickets are $100. Reserved tables of 10 can also be purchased for $450. Tickets for this event will sell fast so get your tickets now. Tickets can be purchased at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River at 2250 Highland Road, Bullhead City.

For what will you best remember pop icon Michael Jackson?
His music. From the Jackson Five to a solo career to collaborating with nearly every major star, he did it all.
His dancing. He put so much energy and creativity into his performances.
His showmanship. Glitzy costumes, pyro-technics and cutting edge ideas all were a part of his persona.
His weirdness. He was talented for sure, but he also was strange.
