MOHAVE VALLEY - The Dust Devils football team will host Tuba City High School at 7 tonight at River Valley High School in an Arizona Interscholastic Association nonregion contest featuring two winless teams.
The 0-4, 0-1 in the 3A West Region Dust Devils have been led by running back Robert Cooper, who has 379 yards on 56 carries with four rushing touchdowns. He also has returned three kickoffs for TDs.
Bill Strub and Carl Sohmer have paced RVHS' defense with 22 unassisted tackles (12 unassisted) apiece.
RVHS has lost to Mohave, 35-20, on Aug. 28; Needles High School, 37-30, on Sept. 4; Boulder City (Nev.), 28-0, on Sept. 11; and Wickenburg High School, 46-6, on Sept. 18.
RVHS head coach Terry Staggs said Tuba City is a “run-and-gun team” that likes to spread it out.
The 0-3, 0-2 in the North Region Tuba City squad has fallen to Hopi High School, 28-8, on Aug. 28; Page High School, 24-0; and Window Rock, 20-14, on Sept. 18.
The Mohave Accelerated Learning Center Patriots will host Harvest Prep (Yuma, Ariz.) at 7 tonight at Firebird Field in an Arizona Charter Athletic Association Charter-B 8-man football game.
Patriots head coach Don McLain (2-2) said MALC's foes (0-3) are inexperienced, and they will feature several soccer players.
MALC running back Danny Warden compiled 301 all-purpose yards during the Patriots' 20-14 win against Madison Prep on Sept. 18. McLain said MALC's Cyle Medrano will move from fullback to quarterback against Harvest Prep. |
