SMOLDERING: Smoke billows from a hot spot Tuesday morning on the riverbanks of the Colorado River in Needles following a fire that consumed approximately 60 acres of dry trees and brush. Lightning ignited the blaze Monday night. Firefighters worked tirelessly through the night to gain control of fire and contain it from threatening nearby home structures. CAT SMITH/The Daily News
