LAUGHLIN — New possibilities are ahead for the Laughlin Nevada Chamber of Commerce with the addition of two positions on its board of directors.
On Jan. 24 the chamber held its first general board meeting of 2019. Business was to discuss the new bylaws and introduce Mary-Ellen Viraldi and Brie Tyler. They bring the board total to 18, and according to Jackie Mazzeo, the Laughlin Chamber executive director, that’s a perfect amount.
Viraldi moved to Laughlin in 2004 after her children graduated from high school. She wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of Southern California.
“I’m pretty excited,” Viraldi said. “It’s all new to me, but I’m ready to be involved and look forward to learning.”
Tyler moved to Bullhead City about 28 years ago to work for the Mohave Valley Daily News selling advertising. She later moved on and started Our Town Magazine in 1991.
“I am going to do everything I can to help out,” Tyler said. “Ad designs or anything, Jackie knows to call me, and I’m there.”
Tyler has experience in color, image, and words and Viraldi is a new member on the board who understands land in the Laughlin area. Their skill sets fill in the gaps of the board, for those who may need help in those departments for their businesses.
“Once you have seen one chamber you have seen one chamber,” Mazzeo said. “We are not like anyone else, we are so diverse in our services that we don’t say no. If a business says they need help, we say how can we.”
The board of directors oversees Laughlin Chamber operations to make sure they are using member money wisely. The board’s first official meeting is Jan. 31.
