LAUGHLIN — The Laughlin High School Lady Cougars put short-handed Adelson away early on Senior Night in the Den on the way to a 2-1 record over the last 10 days.

Most of the damage was done in the first quarter with seven different girls contributing a total of 22 points.

Senior guard Faith McGeehan led the team with six points after the first quarter and finished the night with 10. Sophomore guard Ashley Bishop would be the game’s leading scorer with 15 in the 65-16 win.

The conference win improved Laughlin to 11-12 overall and 5-6 in 2A Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Southern League. The Lady Cougars still had a shot at the playoffs, but needed to win their remaining three games — and get three losses by Lake Mead Academy.

The Lady Cougars took care of their first step, crushing Mountain View Christian 61-19.

The playoff dream ended, however, when the Lady Cougars fell 59-28 on the road against Lincoln County.

Lincoln County vaulted to a 19-2 lead  to open the game and owned a commanding 50-16 cushion after three quarters.
