BULLHEAD CITY — Bullhead City Police Chief Brian Williamson announced at a press conference late Wednesday afternoon that a body has been discovered in the desert area near Newberry Drive and Chaparral Drive, approximately a half mile east of the home where Isabella Grogan-Cannella went missing early Tuesday morning. He continued by saying that authorities could not confirm the identity of the deceased and that crime scene technicians will be processing the area through the night.
Williamson concluded the briefing by stating that police are working very heard to find who is responsible for the crime.
Police and search and rescue crews have been searching the area for the 8-year-old since she was reported missing at about 1:30 Tuesday morning. On Wednesday, crime scene tape blocked the entrance to the family home and a vehicle parked across the street was also secured with the yellow tape.
Officers were observed escorting several family members to Bullhead Police Department headquarters late Tuesday evening for questioning.
Justin James Rector, 26, an acquaintance of the family, was arrested Tuesday night on an unrelated charge, reported Emily Fromelt, spokesperson for the Bullhead City Police Department. She said he was questioned in relation to the child's disappearance but would not state whether he is considered a suspect.
Combing the area on foot and aboard ATVs are search teams from Mohave, Yavapai, and Coconino counties. Search dogs were also summoned to help with locating the girl.
Police urge anyone with information to contact the BHCPD immediately at 928-763-1999.
