Balloons bring Christmas smiles

Balloon sculptor, mime, juggler, dancer, actor and illusionist Michael Rovno makes up balloon animals for children during the annual free Christmas dinner of Saint Vincent de Paul and Set Free Church. The two organizations feed hundreds over the holidays in Fr. Hanley Hall behind St. Ann Catholic Church at Third and D streets. George DeLeon, manager of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Needles, reported arrangements were made for the artist by Michelle Harding, whose daughter used to make balloons for the event. Including take-out meals, about 300 were served on Christmas.
