LAS VEGAS — Needles’ Lady ’Stangs varsity basketball team remains unbeaten in the NIAA 2A South League after a 43-42 win over Calvary Chapel in the Lady Lions’ gym.
Calvary led 6-3 after one quarter, Needles led 17-15 at the half, 33-26 after three quarters of play.
Calvary, who had been unbeaten in the league until Needles came to call, were tough and quick, according to Lady ’Stangs Coach Manuel Calderon, and used a full court press for 90 percent of the game.
Calvary’s T. Perkins, No. 17, led the scoring with 17. Needles’ Paige Murch scored 16, including 4-for-6 from the free throw line. Valentina Limon, whose three-pointer was the only score for the Lady ’Stangs in the first quarter, totaled 14.
No report has come in yet for the Mustangs.
