Mohave Valley fire

It took around 45 minutes for firefighters to put out a structure fire Monday at Kingsley Street and Whitewing Drive. Part of the roof was left charred from the fire.

MOHAVE VALLEY — Fire heavily damaged a Mohave Valley home on Monday.

Around 4:38 p.m., units from the Mohave Valley Fire Department, the Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department and the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Kingsley Street and Whitewing Drive.

“The fire is still under investigation,” said Don Gibson, incident commander from the Mohave Valley Fire Department. “What we know as of now is that the fire consumed 50 percent of the structure before we were able to have it under control.”

Gibson said that it took the 20 personnel who were on scene about 45 minutes to control the fire and extinguish it.

“There were four occupants that we know of inside the residence when the fire started,” said Gibson. “One was transported to Valley View hospital for burns to the hand, two are being assessed for smoke inhalation on scene and one was in the custody of Mohave County Sheriff officers. The only reason that the individual was detained is that he failed to follow orders.”

Gibson did not specify what orders were not followed.
