BULLHEAD CITY — Entries still are being accepted in the 2019 Bullhead City striper derby, set for Friday and Saturday on the Colorado River.

Online registration is available at https://bhcreelincashderby.eventbrite.com. Onsite registration, fish weigh-in and the derby awards ceremony all will be held at Riviera Marina, 520 Riviera Blvd. Registrants can participate anywhere along the Colorado River, between the Laughlin Bridge and Needles Bridge, as long as the fish is caught by legal means. All participants must have a valid fishing license applicable to the state where they are fishing.

Last call for weigh-in is at 3 p.m. Sunday. An awards ceremony is set for 3:30 to 5 p.m. The ceremony is open to the public.

Entry fee is $25 per angler for adults in the largest striper category and includes an event T-shirt, a food ticket for Steins BBQ and five raffle tickets.

There is an additional optional $10 buy-in for heaviest stringer and blind bogey.

Anglers 17 and under can enter for $5 per category with the chance to win a swag bag full of prizes.

Adult taking part in the largest striper category will be competing for a grand prize of $500. Second place will receive $200 and third will earn $100.

Heaviest stringer and blind bogey offer $100 for first place in each category.

Rusty Braun, proprietor of Riviera Marina in Bullhead City, is helping coordinate the derby for the Bullhead City Recreation Division.

“We will have some great anglers out there,” Braun said. “This is a community event and we are encouraging both novice angler and the interested public to come check out this event.”

Ashlee Bennett, recreation supervisor for Bullhead City, also extended an invitation.

“We would like to invite the community to come down to Rusty’s Riviera Marina and support the anglers, purchase raffle tickets and join in on all the fun,” Bennett said. “This event has had a lot of support from local businesses donating raffle prizes and cash for our prize pool. Without the support of our local businesses, events like this wouldn’t come to fruition or be successful.”
