BULLHEAD CITY — The Mohave High School Interact Club is collecting mobility devices for distribution to the needy in Kenya.

The club is seeking donations of crutches, walkers, canes, wheelchairs and other devices.

The plan is to clean and repair the items, which then will be shipped to Rotary Club, Interact and Rotaract partners in Kenya. Interact Ambassadors from Arizona will journey to the African country this summer to help present the devices to patients who lack mobility on their own.

“We went to a home one day to bring a wheelchair to a lady who had flip-flops on her hands and was dragging her legs behind her,” Mohave High School student Dylan Boyd said about his trip as an Ambassador. “She pulled herself into the wheelchair and started rolling away; she was just super excited.”

The devices may be dropped off until Feb. 21 at Mid Valley Auto Center, 1940 Highway 95, or Valley View Medical Center, 5330 Highway 95.

Anyone with items that need to be picked up may call Corky Cornell at 928-763-2586 or 928-542-0635.
