BULLHEAD CITY — Bullhead City police have identified a man found dead behind City Square last week.

Leonard Joseph Collins, 55, was found June 7 behind the former Kmart store in the 2200 block of Highway 95.

There were no unusual circumstances surrounding Collins’ death, police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said Thursday.

His body was turned over to Desert Lawn Funeral Home, she said. There was no autopsy. It wasn’t clear when authorities believe Collins died. Police reportedly were told of a possible dead body in the vacant area behind the former Kmart store by someone who spotted the body last Friday. Police responded to the area and found Collins dead.

Police said that foul play was not suspected in the death, which was likely caused by exposure. Local temperatures topped 100 degrees each of the three days before the body was discovered.

Collins is believed to have been a transient, police said.
