Students stuff stockings

Terry Dolan’s gifted and talented class Thursday packed up some customized Christmas stockings for children at WestCare Safe House. The contents ranged from hot cocoa and candy canes to crazy straws and home-baked cookies. Also to be presented are giant stuffed animals for the shelter’s living room and games for the shelter; Dolan said the students used their own money to fill the stockings, collecting items over about three weeks. She said the group wanted to bring Christmas joy to kids who will get just the basics at the shelter. “It brings tears to my eyes, the wonderful things you guys have done,” she told the class. Fifth-grader Riah Braun is new to the class. She said she’s proud to be part of a group trying to make a difference in the community.
