An area angler’s fishing expedition ended before it began last weekend and resulted in his vehicle needing to be fished from the Colorado River. According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Mohave Valley across from Needles’ Jack Smith Park for a submerged vehicle. The driver and a passenger were in the vehicle when it was backing up to the edge of the water, reports indicated. They got out of the vehicle — the driver said he thought he put it in park — but the vehicle continued rolling toward the river, eventually becoming submerged. A local towing company removed the vehicle from the water; it still was in reverse, according to the sheriff’s office. No injuries were reported.
