MESA, Ariz. — River Valley High School Dust Devil junior Assad Zeinaty jumped 12 feet in the pole vault to place 12th at the 2017 Division III Arizona Interscholastic Association State Track and Field Tournament, which was held Friday-Saturday at Mesa Community College.
Mohave’ High School senior Jamon Bindschatel placed 15th — among hundreds of high school student-athletes — in the pole vault at 11-6.00.
Mohave Lady T-bird senior Kristina Fricke placed 18th in the 3200-meter run by clocking in at 12 minutes, 41.34 seconds.
River Valley Lady Dust Devil sophomore Hailey Sischo came in 21st place in the 100 hurdles at 17.60, and River Valley Lady Dust Devils junior Stevi Christy placed 23rd in the 100 hurdles at 17.66 and 21st in the 300 hurdles at 11.29 and 51.72, respectively.
Dust Devil senior John Sisco did not record a height in the high jump.
The Snowflake Lobos boys team placed first by recording 74 points, and the Salpointe Catholic Lady Lancers finished second at 67. The T-birds, behind senior Darin Alderman’s first-place finishes in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, came tied for eighth with the Combs Coyotes at 20 points.
The Fountain Hills Lady Falcons won the team event for the girls by recording 70 points and the Walden Grove Lady Thunder finished second at 65. The Mohave and River Valley girls did not record enough points to place in the team event.
